Praise the Lord. Thank you for praying for my
trip to India. The following is the itinerary:
- Monday, June 17, 2013 - Fly from Newark NJ 9.30 PM
- Wednesday, June 19 - Arriving in Bhubaneswar at 1:30 PM
- Stay in Bhubaneswar with my mom
- Saturday June 22, 2013 - Go by car to G. Udayagiri, Phulbani, Orissa. (a five hour drive)
- Sunday June 23, 2013 - 3:30 PM - Preaching at Kanabageri Church. I grew up in the church, attending Sunday School and church. I preached my first sermon at this church at the age of 16.
- Monday through Saturday, June 24-29 Visit two children's homes that support and visit the Moorshead Memorial Christian Hospital.
Meet with Bishop Bijay Naik, Bishop of the
Church of North India.
Visit some of the churches that were
destroyed during persecution of Christians in 2008. The
churches are being rebuilt.
- Sunday June 30, 2013 4:30PM preaching at the first Baptist Church that started in 1914 with its first converts. The church will be celebrating its 100th year of ministry and outreach in 2014.
- July 2, 2013 Speaking at the regional Gathering of Christians. The meeting will be held at G. Udayagiri. Travel Back to Bhubaneswar on the night of July 2, 2013. Then I will be staying in Bhubaneswar with my mom and family . Bhubaneswar is the State Capital of Orissa, a planned city, designed by a French architect. The current Governor of the Setae of Orissa is very committed Christian. He worships with local believers faithfully and regularly. I will be meeting some of the leaders and friends while staying Bhubaneswar.
- July 7, 2013 3:30 PM I will be preaching art the First Baptist Church, Cuttack. I attended this church during my college days in the late sixties. This is the largest Protestant Churchchurch in the State Of Orissa. I will be meeting with many of my college day friends including Bishop Mohanty.
- Monday, July 8 through Saturday, July 13 - Stay in Bhubaneswar with my mom through Saturday July 13, 2013, when I will fly to Bangalore, the "silicone city" of India. IBM has 50,000 workers in Bangalore. All the fortune 500 companies have their centers here in this city. Many foreigners live and work in this city. My wife Alice and I met in Bangalore in 1973 and fell in love at first sight and got married in 1975. I will be staying at the Guest House of the college.
- Sunday July 14, 2013 at 8:30 and11:00 AM I will be preaching at St. Mark's Cathedral of Bangalore. I will be preaching in English. St. Mark's Cathedral is very Historic and one of the largest churches of the City of Bangalore.
- Monday July 15, 2013 - I will be traveling to Vellore, a 3 hour train ride away. At 1:30 PM I will be speaking at the Christian Medical College and Hospital at Vellore. The Christian Medical College and Hospital at Vellore was founded by Dr. Ida Scudder, MD. Dr. Ida Scudder was the first Woman graduate of the Cornell Medical School. The Christian Medical College and Hospital is one of the top 5 Hospitals and medical colleges of Asia. Some of the best doctors are trained here. The Christian Medical College Hospital is a 2500 bed Hospital. I will return to Bangalore by train in the evening.
- July 16-17 I plan to visit some my friends and colleagues who are all retired now and live in Bangalore, the "Garden City of India".
- July 18, 2013 at 4:30 AM I will begin my return journey, and I am scheduled to arrive in Newark NJ at 7 PM the same day (because of the various time Zones). I will be back in the States the same day I left India, where as going from the States to India takes two days.
